Community Blood Center has honored Miller-Valentine Group with the Gold LifeSaving Ambassador’s Club award for blood drive excellence in 2016 and with the Strategic Summer Partner award for helping meet the challenge of maintaining the blood supply during the summer of 2016.
CBC Account Representative Donna Teuscher presented the awards to blood drive coordinators Tracie Starks and Sara Sperry at Miller-Valentine’s first blood drive of 2017, sponsored Wednesday, May 10 at the Dayton CBC Donor Center.
Miller-Valentine has been a CBC blood drive partner for more than 25 years. The Gold LAC award goes to sponsors who accomplish 95 to 99 percent of their blood drive collection goals. In 2016 Miller-Valentine Group hosted three blood drives and averaged 96 percent of goal while totaling 45 donors and 39 donations.
CBC’s Donna Teuscher thanked Miller-Valentine Associates for supporting blood drives and for their flexibility in scheduling. Miller-Valentine has hosted and co-hosted Bloodmobile blood drives at its downtown Dayton headquarters and sponsored multi-day blood drives at the CBC Donor Center.
The Strategic Summer Partnership award specifically thanks sponsors for hosting at least two blood drives between May 1 and Sept. 30. In the challenging summer of 2016 Miller- Valentine Group hosted May and September blood drives.
“Miller-Valentine is so pleased to be a community member supporting the very important cause of blood donations,” said Tracie Starks, who has served as blood drive coordinator for 23 years. She made her milestone 40th-lifetime blood donation at Wednesday’s blood drive, the equivalent of five gallons.
Co-coordinator Sara Sperry made her 13th-lifetime donation Wednesday. “There have been a lot of first-time donors over the years because we do a lot of recruiting,” she said.
Marketing Coordinator Donna Reist, who made her eighth-lifetime donation at Wednesday’s blood drive agreed. “It was an opportunity for me to find out first-hand how easy it is to donate blood,” said Donna.
