Two 430,000 SF Buildings Underway for NorthPoint Development

Miller-Valentine Construction’s return to the central Ohio market received a boost in July as construction commences on two logistics warehouse facilities for NorthPoint Development, Inc., in Canal Winchester, Ohio. Originally planned for March, the groundbreaking was delayed by state-imposed lockdowns to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Totaling 430,000 square feet each, the speculative facilities will be built using pre-cast construction. The facilities will be located on 110 acres along Bixby Road near US 33, in an area that is experiencing rapid growth.

The Canal Winchester project marks Miller-Valentine’s sixth contract with the development company, which is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri.  NorthPoint has developed more than 67.3 million square feet of Class A industrial space since 2012.

The groundbreaking further solidifies Miller-Valentine’s foothold in the Columbus market. The company hired Amy Elsea, Vice President, Business Development, in July of 2019 to spearhead the company’s re-entry into the market.

“We have a great relationship with NorthPoint Development, which has been very active in the Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus regions,” said Dave Dickerson, President, Midwest Business Development. “And we are excited to make our presence known in the Columbus area. This project will cement our regional reputation as a trusted guide with the capabilities to manage projects of a significant scale.”

Miller-Valentine’s Columbus portfolio also includes two additional logistics buildings totaling more than 876,000 square feet for Hillwood’s TradePort, FlightSafety, and Heidelberg Distributors.
