Construction Underway on Second Expansion for Total Quality Logistics
Less than two years after completing a significant addition to its Union Township, Ohio, headquarters, Total Quality Logistics (TQL) is once again partnering with Miller Valentine Construction to expand its footprint.
In December, Miller Valentine began site work on a three-story, 157,000-square-foot addition on the south side of the company’s headquarters. It will mirror a 120,000-square-foot expansion that Miller Valentine completed in December 2020 on the facility’s north elevation. Cushman & Wakefield is serving as the owner’s representative.
“Working with TQL and Cushman & Wakefield on the first expansion was a rewarding experience, and we are thrilled to be back on the TQL campus to support their continued growth,” said Rebecca Schaefer, project manager for Miller Valentine. “We value the trust the client team has placed in us and will provide the same level of service and accountability without exception.”
TQL is the second-largest freight brokerage firm in North America and Cincinnati’s largest private company. TQL employs more than 9,000 people across 56 offices throughout the U.S. The expansion, which will be devoted almost entirely to office and related support space, will bring TQL’s headquarters to 390,620 square feet and provide capacity for up to 3,500 people. The facility is also home to a fitness center, commercial kitchen, outdoor terraces and event space, and other amenities that were added as part of the 2020 expansion.
Although it will connect seamlessly with the existing facility, the addition will be an independent structure. This will enable the Miller Valentine team to minimize interruptions to daily operations for TQL staff. For example, by constructing a “false wall,” the project team will be able to remove glazing from the south side of the building without impact to existing office and amenity spaces. As part of Miller Valentine’s strategy to build certainty, the project team includes Associates who served on the first expansion project.
Project partners include Phoenix Architects, Kleingers Group, and Schaefer Engineering. The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024.
