Miller Valentine Community Fund: Investing in Communities
As an Associate-driven initiative, the Miller Valentine Community Fund (MVCF) focuses on organizations where our team members already contribute their time, talent, and resources. Through this approach, the fund strengthens the impact of the causes our Associates care deeply about while supporting the communities where we live and work.
MVCF Mission
MVCF supports qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations identified by Associates, while also reviewing donation requests submitted by local nonprofits. The committee evaluates each request to determine how the fund can best support the organization’s mission and community impact.
Recently, the committee held its quarterly meeting at Daybreak Dayton, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting young people experiencing homelessness. Hosting the meeting on-site provided committee members the opportunity to tour the facility, gain a deeper understanding of Daybreak’s mission, and see firsthand the positive impact the organization has on the community. During the meeting, members reviewed funding requests and discussed potential donations. Following the meeting, committee members volunteered alongside Daybreak staff, helping sort clothing donations for the organization’s in-house boutique, where clothing is provided to youth in need.
MVCF committee members serve three-year terms and meet quarterly to review requests and recommend organizations for support. Each quarter, members are assigned 501(c)(3) organizations to evaluate and bring forward for funding consideration. The program offers a meaningful way to recognize and support nonprofit organizations that reflect our Associates’ philanthropic passions, aligning with Miller Valentine’s commitment to serving our communities.
