Downing Displays was out of room, and ready to grow with an expansion.
The Milford, Ohio–based company designs, builds, stores, and ships custom trade show exhibits for major brands. Every corner of its facility was filled, from rolls of carpet and fabric to CNC equipment and large stored displays. To keep up with demand, Downing was even renting extra warehouse space down the road.
Fortunately, the company’s original 1990s building sat on a site with space to expand. In 2025, that potential became a plan. Downing partnered with Miller Valentine Construction to deliver a 30,000-square-foot addition. Ground broke in April, and the project was completed just six months later in October.
Built for Today—and What’s Next
Miller Valentine designed the addition to blend seamlessly with the existing facility, matching exterior materials to create a unified look. One key enhancement sets the new space apart: a roofline that’s six feet taller, providing valuable vertical storage and flexibility.
To support the increased height, the existing structure was reinforced to handle additional snow loads. The team also prepared the site for future growth, identifying locations for potential overhead door cutouts and extending sanitary and storm systems to the property line to simplify any future expansion.
Expanding While Operations Continued
Construction took place while Downing’s business remained in full swing. The company continued shipping exhibits daily, requiring careful coordination to avoid disruptions. All construction materials entered and exited through the same bay used for Downing’s regular loading and receiving, demanding precision scheduling and constant communication.
Despite a rainy spring that challenged site preparation, the project team adjusted sequencing to stay on track and deliver on schedule.

Today, Downing has the room it needs to operate efficiently—and the foundation to continue growing for years to come.
