Lewisburg Container (Pratt Industries)
Pratt Industries is America’s fifth-largest corrugated packaging company and the world’s largest, privately-held 100% recycled paper and packaging company. Miller Valentine’s relationship with Pratt is a result of work completed for Lewisburg Container in the early 1990s. This relationship has continued through the years after Pratt acquired Lewisburg Container, and since 2014, Miller Valentine Construction has served as a trusted guide to the company, building 10 facilities totaling more than 5 million square feet in eight states (as of March 2022).
When the company needed to expand its 357,400 square foot manufacturing and warehousing facility in Lewisburg, Ohio, Miller Valentine provided guidance throughout the process. The client presented our team with a rough idea of where and how they wanted to expand their facility. We took their request and turned it into an executable plan. Working alongside the architect, we maximized the available space on the space-constrained site to allow for 30,000 additional square feet to accommodate a new digital printer.
The expansion brought the facility within 40 feet of the center of the adjacent road. Through close coordination with the City of Lewisburg, we obtained clearance to proceed without risk of impeding the right of way.
Finding enough room for the facility’s larger footprint wasn’t the only hurdle for the client. The project eliminated approximately 90 parking spaces. To regain the lost spaces, we designed additional parking on an adjoining site. Throughout construction, we worked side-by-side with Pratt’s operations team to minimize disruption to the plant’s operations.
