Staco Energy Products

In June, Miller Valentine Construction completed a 40,000 square foot expansion to the headquarters for Staco Energy Products in Miamisburg, Ohio. The project, which broke ground in August 2021, was completed on budget and ahead of schedule.

It is Miller Valentine’s second project for Staco, the world’s oldest innovator of power quality and voltage control technologies. In 2019, Miller Valentine built Staco’s 96,000 square foot headquarters, which consolidated two locations into one.

At the time, the company knew growth was on the horizon, and the building was designed to accommodate expansion. For example, tilt-up wall panels were engineered for future structural connections and knock-out panels were used to facilitate future paths of travel.

“Tying the two buildings together went very smoothly because of the planning that went into this project on the front end,” said Greg Rambo, Project Manager. “As a result, our team was able to work more efficiently and minimize interruption to Staco’s day-to-day operations.”

To reduce delays from material shortages and supply-chain disruptions, the project team procured high-demand materials, such as steel and roofing material, as early as possible.

“Materials that used to take weeks to procure now require months,” said Hank Betts, Vice President of Business Development – Dayton. “By getting as early a jump as possible on procurement, we can minimize or even eliminate those delays to the overall project schedule.”

The expansion has provided Staco with additional space for warehousing and assembly operations. The company projected the expansion will generate a 5% to 10% increase in staff.
