This 3-story, 80,646 square foot medical office building is the focal point of the UC Health medical campus located at University Pointe in Butler County, Ohio. The building’s prairie-style architecture boasts a distinctive mansard roof, a multi-textured exterior, a beautifully landscaped colonnade, a spacious porte-cochere with a large sloped glass skylight, and spectacular night lighting. This design-build structure is steel-framed with a composite deck floor system, three types of masonry, two types of roofing, and a variety of glazing systems with back set, center set and front set windows.
Miller-Valentine’s crews completed 23% of the overall construction by performing the structural steel erection, installation of the composite metal deck, foundations/footings, wood blocking, installation of doors and hardware, and all exterior concrete. The entrance is accentuated with a 100-foot diameter “Spanish Gold” colored concrete drive-thru. This same “Spanish Gold” concrete is being used as diamond accents in the sidewalks that will tie all future buildings together.
More than six months went into the initial planning which required the coordination of owners, architects, designers, and developers to ensure that the scope of the entire University Pointe Campus was considered. The advanced planning helped to create a strong team relationship among everyone involved to help streamline the eleven-month construction process.
